story time

I’m sure by now you’ve already seen this hilarious book, Go the Fuck to Sleep by Adam Mansbach (three separate people sent it to me just this morning and it’s all over Facebook). I was curious so took to the internet to find out more about this viral phenomenon. Apparently is was scheduled to release in October of this year, but the sneaky booksellers started sending the PDF version to everyone they knew. I plan on picking up a copy when it releases in June but if you want to pre-order go here .

Now that we have L’il E I really appreciate books like this. He’s only 3 months and I’ve read all of our books a dozen times each already! We have one called Grumpy Bird by Jeremy Tankard (my fave) that you should totally check out if you appreciate children’s books with adult humour.

Any other book suggestions?

’twas the night before…

Every year around this time I like to pull out ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas for a quick read. It brings back childhood memories of the magic of Christmas. This year I am already thinking of next year and the new Christmas traditions the Hubs and I will make with our new little babe.

If you’re looking for a new twist on the traditional ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, check out Yogurt the Ogre Twas the Night Before Christmas from pdoink. It’s available for free download now!

pdoink is a new publishing company that invents and realizes children’s stories that encourage learning for positive change and self development. Their first book sale for The Big Tale of the Not-So-Tidy Whale is up on Amazon.ca for $19.99. Might be a cute last minute Christmas gift for that niece or nephew on your list.

Happy reading!

the very hungry caterpillar (that also means me!)

I figure it’s time I finally spill the beans…the hubs and I are expecting our very own pair of little baby feet in just 4 short months! I’ve been dying to share the news but I wanted to give it some time and – trust – you didn’t need to hear my first trimester complaints.

I assure you this won’t become a mummy blog but in the spirit of my news I thought I would share this great list with y’all. Building Baby’s First Library: 25 Must Have Books

When I was a kid my favourite thing was being read to and going to the library (yes a little nerdy, but I’m a great speller now). It seemed like every weekend we would go to the library for a new weeks worth of books and Mom would cozy up in bed with me and read me a bedtime story. Dad would make up his own creative and funny stories with me as the star character. Going through this list of favourites was so nostalgic and I can’t wait to start reading to our little babe (happy face).

My faves have alway been The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Jelly Belly, Mud Puddle, Are You My Mother?….(I could go on forever).

What are your favourite children’s books? I have to start building our library!
